Note: These instructions are for SATs Revealed 2009 or 2008 and Progress Revealed 2009. The instructions are slightly different for SATs Revealed 2007 - email us if you are trying to install SATs Revealed 2007 over a network.
Runtime files:
SATs Revealed requires the Adobe Flash ActiveX (version 8 or above) and Visual Basic 6 runtime files to be installed. Progress Revealed requires the Adobe Flash ActiveX (version 9 or above) and Visual Basic 6 runtime files to be installed. Most Windows XP computers will already have these installed, earlier versions may not. The regular installer (.exe) will install these if necessary, the .msi installer (see below) won't.
To deploy over a network you can either:
1. Run the installer on each workstation and manually input the activation code.
or
2. Run the installer on one computer, installing to a shared folder. Add the file "regdata.ini" (see below) to the shared folder. Each computer needs to have the runtime files pre installed.
or
3. Use an .msi installer to deploy over the network. Each computer needs to have the runtime files pre installed. Also deploy the file "regdata.ini".
.msi installer
Note: MSI installers are not available for time limited versions of SATs Revealed. To check if your version is time limited, press menu then about: if the version string ends in .DL the version you have is time limited.

SATs Revealed 2008 msi installers can be downloaded here (username and activation code required)
regdata.ini
The program looks for a file called "regdata.ini" from the program's folder when it starts up. It will read the registration data from this file, so you don't have to manually enter it.
regdata.ini is a plain text file containing 3 lines:
REG-RUS
YourUserName
YourActivationCode
This file is not included with the installation, you need to create it yourself.
Default install location
The default program location is:
{program files}\ReallyUsefulStuff\{product code}, where product code is like "KS2Science".
Registry access
When the username and activation code are entered the program writes data to HKLM if running as Administrator, HKCU otherwise. Also, the program needs KEY_READ permissions on
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}\Version
to read the version of the Adobe Flash ActiveX. If you can not change the permission on this key, run the program with the parameter /SkipFlashCheck, so to skip checking for the Flash ActiveX.
